Ο πρίγκιπας Χάρι ακολουθεί τα βήματα της μητέρας του στην Ανγκόλα

Πριν από 22 χρόνια η πριγκίπισσα Νταϊάνα πραγματοποίησε ένα ταξίδι στην Ανγκόλα, για να ευαισθητοποιήσει τον πλανήτη σχετικά με τα αναρίθμητα νεκρά ή ακρωτηριασμένα παιδιά από εγκαταλελειμμένες νάρκες.

Η Νταϊάνα δεν ήθελε να φωτογραφηθεί αγκαλιά με κάποιο υποσιτισμένο μωρό ή ακούγοντας με προσοχή τα προβλήματα κάποιας τρίτης χώρας ως εκπρόσωπος του Ερυθρού Σταυρού. Αντιθέτως με την εικόνα που είχε δημιουργήσει για τον εαυτό της, ήθελε να εγείρει την παγκόσμια προσοχή πάνω στα ενεργά ναρκοπέδια στην Ανγκόλα.

Η πριγκίπισσα Νταϊάνα συνομίλησε με τους ανθρώπους που είχαν επιβιώσει από τις εκρήξεις ναρκών, μετά το μακροχρόνιο πόλεμο στην Ανγκόλα, και θέλησε να δείξει την επικινδυνότητα διασχίζοντας και η ίδια ένα ναρκοπέδιο που είχε εν μέρει καθαριστεί από την οργάνωση Halo Trust, ωστόσο έκρυβε ακόμη πολλούς κινδύνους.

Η Νταϊάνα μπορεί να φοβόταν, όμως δεν δίστασε να διασχίσει το ναρκοπέδιο. Φόρεσε ειδικό κράνος και γιλέκο των πυροτεχνουργών της οργάνωσης και ετοιμάστηκε να περπατήσει μέσα από τις νάρκες. Μάλιστα της είχαν αναφέρει προτού ξεκινήσει ότι «αν κάποια στιγμή αμφιβάλλεις για το πού πατάς, κάτσε ακίνητη και κάνε μας νόημα. Αν ακούσεις μια μη ελεγχόμενη έκρηξη, βεβαιώσου ότι είσαι καλά και κάνε μας νόημα. Αν μια έκρηξη σε πετάξει μακριά μείνε ακίνητη και θα έρθουμε να σε πάρουμε». Βέβαια η λαίδη Ντι τα κατάφερε και οι φωτογραφίες από εκείνην την ιστορική στιγμή της έκαναν τον γύρο του κόσμου, ενώ η προσπάθειά της απέφερε καρπούς καταφέρνοντας να ευαισθητοποιήσει τα κράτη.

Στα δικά της βήματα ακολουθεί και ο δεύτερος γιος της, Πρίγκιπας Χάρι, τιμώντας έτσι την μητέρα του.

Μπορεί τις πρώτες τέσσερις μέρες η επίσημη περιοδεία του πριγκιπικού ζευγαριού Χάρι–Μέγκαν να είχε φιλανθρωπικό χαρακτήρα επισκεπτόμενοι κέντρα και οργανώσεις που είναι κοντά στην καρδιά τους και παρουσιάζοντας τον μικρό τους γιο στο κοινό, τώρα όμως ο πρίγκιπας Χάρι θέλησε μόνος να τιμήσει το σπουδαίο έργο της μητέρας του.

Ο 36χρονος Χάρι μπορεί να μην βρέθηκε στο ίδιο ναρκοπέδιο που είχε επισκεφθεί η πριγκίπισσα Νταϊάνα, καθώς εκείνο έχει πλέον μετατραπεί σε έναν δρόμο με σχολεία, καταστήματα και σπίτια, ωστόσο πήγε σε ένα άλλο παρόμοιο ναρκοπέδιο και έκανε το ίδιο ακριβώς όπως και η μητέρα του. Φόρεσε το ειδικό κράνος, έβαλε την προστατευτική στολή και περπάτησε μέσα από ένα μερικώς καθαρό ναρκοπέδιο κοντά στην πόλη Ντιρίκο της Ανγκόλα, ενώ στην συνέχεια παρακολούθησε την εξουδετέρωση μιας νάρκης με ελεγχόμενη έκρηξη.

Στον επίσημο λογαριασμό στο Instagram του πριγκιπικού ζευγαριού Syssex Royal, ο πρίγκιπας Χάρι, θέλοντας να τιμήσει το ακούραστο έργο της μητέρας του, το οποίο συνέβαλε στην αλλαγή της πορείας της ιστορίας, έγραψε πως νιώθει ταπεινός που επισκέφθηκε ένα μέρος και μια κοινότητα που ήταν τόσο ξεχωριστά για την μητέρα του, θέλοντας να αναγνωρίσει την ακούραστη αποστολή της ως συνήγορος όλων εκείνων που ένιωθε ότι χρειαζόταν την φωνή της, ακόμη κι αν το ζήτημα δεν ήταν παγκοσμίως δημοφιλές.

The Duke is humbled to be visiting a place and a community that was so special to his mother, and to recognise her tireless mission as an advocate for all those she felt needed her voice the most, even if the issue was not universally popular. Princess Diana’s visit helped change the course of history, and directly led to the Convention against Anti-Personal Landmines, also known as the Ottawa Treaty. Today, with the support of @thehalotrust, Angola now has a stated aim under the Treaty to be clear of known mines by 2025. Despite great progress, 60 million people worldwide still live in fear of landmines every day.
